The Fall Grand Prix will consist of three tournaments. The rounds of each tournament will be continuous. In the K–12 open, rounds 1-2 will be held in September, rounds 3-4 in October, rounds 5–6 and Awards Ceremony in November.

If there are too many children signed up for a particular section, the organizers reserve the right to shuffle or add sections.

All participants will receive either a ribbon or a medal at each tournament. In sections K–1 ● K–3 ● K–5 any student scoring 2 ● 2 ½ ● 3 points at any single tournament will receive a medal. In the K–12 open section, any score of 1 ½ ● 2 points will receive a medal. At the end of the November tournament, any players attending all 3 tournaments will be given a participation trophy. Grand Prix scores will be tallied at the end of the third tournament. The total points for an individual will consist of the total nine-round score in K–1 ● K–3 ● K–5 and a total six-round score from K–12. The top three scoring individuals in each section will be awarded a Grand Prix trophy.

Grand Prix trophies will also be awarded to the top two scoring teams in each section. A team score will consist of the three top scoring boards from each participating team. Any number of players may constitute a team but only the top three individuals from that team and in that particular section will count towards the team Grand Prix total.

Any players arriving late (after 1:15pm) without proper notification may be disqualified from the first round, but may play in subsequent rounds. If requested in advance, players may miss one of the first two Grand Prix days and receive bye points (0.5 points for K-12 and 1 point for other sections).

All participants must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult member of their school or chess club. No student is to be dropped off. Parents and coaches will be responsible for the actions of their students at all times. Good sportsmanship and proper behavior is expected at all times both during and between rounds.
