If your child is interested in chess, it is important to consider the benefits of enrolling him/her in weekly chess lessons. For a fee, experienced coaches will travel to your house and provide an individual lesson for an hour per week. With few exceptions, the most successful chess players in the county are enrolled in chess lessons.  The Alachua County Chess Association provides a specialized system of coaching that has been very successful throughout the years. Each student is paired with a coach appropriate for your child’s strength and personality. New players are matched with coaches specializing in beginning instruction.
